Fun Versus Entertainment
The future is.....
I would believe that most would connote that they are one of the same. I have realized that they are two separate realms and I will do my best to explain. For me on a personal level, I vote for fun over entertainment! Fun for me fun makes me happy! Fun makes me laugh! Fun makes me enthusiastic in the moment. At the end of the day it makes me smile.
So now let’s start off with the current definitions. Let’s start off with entertainment: 1) The action of providing or being provided with amusement or employment. 2) An event, performance or activity designed to entertain others. 3) The action of receiving a guest or guest providing them with food or drink. 4) Shows, films, television, or others performances or activities that entertainment people, or a performance of this type. Now we go to fun: 1) enjoyment, amusement or lighthearted pleasure. 2) Joke or tease. 3) Playful often boisterous action or speech, full of turn. 4) A mood for finding or making amusement.
Now my P.O.V aka point of view is that fun is disorganized and entertainment is organized. Fun is spontaneous and can just happen. Entertainment is planned and produced. For me random fun defines my life. Of course you have the organized concert/show but for me it is the random not expected moments that I now remember most as I get older. It is silly spontaneous moments that stay with me. Those are the one’s that I will be walking down the street and something will spur a memory. I then just smile or laugh!
In this current app base lifestyle we are filled up with entertainment but very little pure fun. Entertainment is manufactured or better put engineered. Entertainment usually has a economic price but fun not necessarily so. If you look around our society the way it is portrayed you see very little fun but you are always potentially entertained. Entertainment is scheduled!
As we head into the summer of 2023 I hope I come across just fun! Fun now is a topic of nostalgia for many in this day of scheduled app life! My life is full of fun that I can pull from so I am blessed! My spirit is always smiling inside. However, I am seeking new fun so my fun account does not go in deficit. I am always randomly open to new fun.
Before we go I must bring up a new category of individuals that I have labeled #GENERATIONS.T.S. I have created this category after much deliberation and observation. These individuals are strictly grounded in entertainment not fun. The issue I feel is that folks may feel entertainment is fun! What are your feelings on this statement? Please pause and meditate for a moment. I am curating something specifically for Generation S.T.S in the very near future. I am still in deep observatory mode.
In closing, point blank the future is entertainment not fun! Fun I will state is a personal choice! For me it is always about that individual choice not societal choice but the individual must have courage to stand up and potentially alone. The ongoing decline of unscheduled fun and just the concept of fun is a critical issue as the 2020’s go deeper! #ObservationReporter
