Genius and Talent

One of the gravest questions in the A.I/nerd/gamify/digitized/temporal economic setting will be two words that will be redefined/overhauled tossed about cavalier because of the artificial element to this economy. The two words genius and talent will become more important in the years ahead. I say this because we are breeding less of those two words.
Some may think they are synonyms but I will beg to differ in this column. Talent has been devalued to the destination of the ‘‘low hanging fruit’’. Genius stands alone now in this era. Talent is suffering in the age of celebrating average and artificial. Now let’s get to the definition’s of both words. Lets go to talent first:
1) A special often athletic, creative, or artistic aptitude. 2) General intelligence or mental power. 3) ability 4) Natural ability someone is born with like a perfect pitch in music or a creative mind.
Now let’s get to genius: 1) Is a characteristic of original and exceptional insight in the performance of some art or endeavor that surpasses expectations, sets new standards for the future, establish a better methods of operation or remains outside the capabilities of competitors according to Wikipedia.
The idea of genius will be lessening in the human arena due to the lessening of using your muscle called the brain/mind. With the use of more external artificial activities that are trumpeted as the way genius will take a hit. Talent is not expanding because individuals borrow more and more from external sources. Genius isn’t innovation, I wish to say here and now. Innovation is the word that is used more and more in our society. Genius is not discussed!
Talent is being shunted aside for average and the rank n file. Average is the new celebration! Talent is not isolated now in wider society which is looking ‘‘outside in’’. I see average being widely or loudly used as amazing because it may have gone viral. Going viral doesn’t mean talent and genius has taken place. Our society has been reformatted and the concepts of talent/genius will be watered down by greater society.
Genius is not meant to be a shrinking violent. Genius has to stand alone. Genius takes over the space it occupies. Genius is acknowledged. Talent is appreciated because it doesn’t come around much! When you see talent you pause and admire. Talent makes you say wow. Genius is a once in a generation game changer!
We have arrived at a destination where we will be seeing less of genius and talent because they have to be nurtured in a less nurturing environment. Genius has to be separated from the masses! That takes a level of acknowledging the difference compared to the masses of the regular individual. Our society is currently not set up for this I feel because there are too many chiefs and not enough foot soldiers. Folks are being told a wrong messages constantly. They are being told that you can buy it or a You Tube tutorial is the gateway. Genius is no way found on a You Tube tutorial or a Tik Tok but innovation can be.
Talent is a natural thing that is found inside of a person. These are the intangibles humans can be made of. You can’t make that up. Talent and genius those are the things humans can be made of. You can’t engineer or manufacture those two. Either you got it or don’t. You can’t purchase either of those attributes. You can’t plastic surgery that stuff. I have not heard A.I expediting genius or talent! Genius and talent are very much human exclusively. If we are being taken down a tech/A.I/digital framework genius and talent will suffer because average will be straggling society.
With the emphasis of A.I trumpeting faster, cheaper will talent and genius have a seat at the table? As I look at the current music industry as a proxy, I already see what I say here to be credible. Let me pose the question where are the hits? Where is the latest genius? Where is the talent? We now have a generation of children celebrating music from 80’s and 90’s! During this time we are dumping out music at an historic level of 120K tracks a day. I will state here that the majority of these tracks were done because they can be done! Yet have no planning behind them. Many should not have been done.
Well to close out, Genius and talent will be
lessening.
