Greedflation

The false narrative to shift blame

Under the cherry tree on a beautiful summer September day…..

So I saw this article on CNN business. It is from 8/20/24. CNN has something called CNN Night Cap. I do not use it as a credible, honest and truthful source. It is just a mouthpiece for the current agendas on what is called democratic, left wing, progressive, and or liberal thought when it comes to business, finance and economics. The piece was written by Elisabeth Buchwald and David Goldman. It starts with the opening volley: Corporations aren’t necessarily known for politicians to blame for inflation. Right there all credibility was gone.

First all of all what is greedflation? It is nothing President Biden and now the Democratic nominee for 2024 has picked up the fight against so called ‘greedflation’. The corporations are responding to the conditions that our government has spearheaded by over expansive government spending fueled by the Federal Reserve system. Any two bit economist’s knows that the Fed Reserve is in cahoots with the government has given them by this unprecedented government spending with the launch of the covid apparatus. I like to say the government is the parents of inflation!

With all of this exorbitant spending it depreciates, the value of the dollar which incurs inflation. To add in the covid supply chain mess that was created 3-4 you now see the effects of grocery inflation of 50 -100 depending on the product. I do not pay attention to the government inflation figures! I go by my pocket and how heavy my grocery bags are.

Greedflation is apparently is based on exacerbated by excessive corporate profit taking that marked up goods or shrunk aka #SHRINKFLATION their sizes and padded businesses bottom lines. For example, a 16 oz. Tropicana orange juice was $1.79 three years ago. Now that product in a Supermarket I go was $2.59 and it was 14 oz. That is a over 50 percent price difference.

A business has to make profit to exist! A government does not! A government gets to tax whether they provide a service or not. In the article it quotes Harris: I know most businesses are creating jobs, contributing to our economy, and playing by the rules, but some are not, and that’s just no right, and we need to take action when that is the case. Again I burst out laughing so again these people have not mention government spending!

A business is built to provide profits not jobs! I know that statement of reality may offend some because it challenges ideals that some may believe to be opposite. Any business doesn’t start by saying how many jobs we can contribute to the community. I am sorry it doesn’t! It starts with how can we profit! That profit symbolizes we have a business and can survive. For those who study labor economics consider profit the income a laborer makes.

A business has to answer to its shareholders. Who does the government and politicians respond to people in theory. You would say the voter out that is not the case. The voter is also the taxpayer. These politicians and bureaucrats are not acknowledging neither of those. Especially the bureaucrats! Anthony Fauci is a prime example! Here is another quote from the article: Vice President Harris believes it is wrong for bad actors to rake in record profits on the backs of increasing prices on consumer goods, A Harris - Walz campaign spokesperson told CNN. Again I burst out laughing. Bad actors…….. Really!

A business does what it does to survive which is profit to have cash flow. This statement was straight out of the Marxist playbook. The government policies have nothing to do with this inflationary environment? As the Brits would say…… PURE RUBBISH!

So finally the article mentions supply and demand which is economics 101. I just shook my head. It then says big business is not your friend. I respond to that by asking is big government your friend? Big government is not mentioned in the article. The article uses San Francisco Federal Reserve study that say’s inflation started to spike in 2021. Oh really…… What happened in 2020? Covid stimulus currency! We must stop the delusion here and now. The green thing in your wallet is fiat currency! They are Federal Reserve notes which are De facto debt instruments. You are walking around with debt in your wallet! IT IS NOT MONEY! According to the constitution only Gold and Silver is money. With that said I hope you guys go on your own magical mystery tour if you are unaware of what was just stated.

Supply and demand which is the central premise in the market economy is working. Look at all of the Five dollar value deals at the fast food joints. They had to do that to get people inside their doors. The article at the end mentions Harris strategy of price controls. I laughed again! Any two bit economist’s knows that is the Marxist economist playbook to pretend you can control pieces. At least the article said CNN contacted economists who questioned the strategy.

In closing, all of this economic ignorance is being spread by politicians. However with ignorance ultimately the biggest business on the planet, I expect all of these terms greedflation, shrinkflation, and price gouging by business will be continued by the Democratic nominee Harris. She will keep shifting the blame from government to business. It is all obfuscation cemented by ignorance. Until the next episode….

An addendum that is relevant to the subject of inflation…. #NOTGREEDFLATION. I was watching a movie from 1967 starring Dick Van Dyke and Debbie Reynolds. The name of the movie was Divorce American Style. In one scene it depicts Dick Van Dyke character going to MacDonald’s…… He orders a cheeseburger, french fries, and a coke. The price was get this .67 cents for the meal. This explains the truth about inflation. Let’s stop all of these terms that avoid confronting the real truth of the matter. .67 cents!!!! Now digest that. What can you even purchased now for sixty seven cents? Depending where you are a banana may cost more!
