English your Reserve language

I didn’t have any thing planned for the 4th but I had scribbled something down. I had trouble filling it out. I decided to use this shell and tie it to something. I found a angle that I hope you can appreciate. Happy 4th of July to you all. A day of reflection with what is going on Ukraine as those people fight for their freedom and liberty. Freedom and liberty are not to be taken lightly. How English became the ‘‘Reserve Language’’ goes back hundreds of years. I will not go that deep today.

The Dollar and American English not U.K English go hand in hand! The Dollar is the observed reserve currency and English is the observed reserve language around the globe. English is the business language or better put the language of commercial and pop culture. However, there has always been a non kinetic war that is happening in world culture. This ‘‘NKW’’ will be increasing in the years ahead. The dollar hegemony is tied to American English hegemony!

One of the dynamic side effects of the pandemic is the increase in ‘‘tribalism’’ around the globe! Hence the term ‘‘GLOCAL’’ has been embedded in the language. I also observe the change via the music industry which I use as my ‘‘canary in the mine’’. American English post WW2 is the language of business and culture via the exports of Hollywood and music. Hence, if you are doing international business you must have a working knowledge of English.

As other interests and coalitions are on the rise the consequences for American hegemony are evident. The internet futurist at Google Ray Kurzweil says 4.2 billion will be joining the online festivities by 2030. With the constant cabling taking place in what is called the 3rd world we will be flooded with folks where English is not their mother tongue! This is significant to the online world where so much economic growth will come from. With English being the dominant tongue that gives those who speak it a huge advantage.

However, if you scan ahead you can see this will have to change due to all of this Glocalism! Individuals are seeing and feeling more pride in there immediate surroundings. If the 4.22 billion who do not speak English follow this tribalism tsunami the impact will eventually be seen with the naked eye! Time will take care of this. As I always say time is the ultimate decision maker in many things.

According to an article on www.restoftheworld.com on 6/7/23 by #RusselBrandon a web scan firm in Austria named W3techs showed that 57% of sites use English as there dominate language. Yet English speakers make up five percent of the planet! Yet Chinese (Mandarin) and Hindi are the second and third most spoken language. Those languages scan 1.4 % and 0.7% of domains. For me those stats are not shocking! We must remember who launched and created the internet…..The dang Yanks! In thirty years it tells me that tons of in roads have been done by others and this trend will continue.

Going forward as we go deeper and deeper online this will be of strategic importance! For me the true technology lies within the human dynamic/genome. The human dynamic of language which is crucial in communications and breeds our culture. How this culture breeds and spreads language will be the wild card.

Now with the advent of A.I models going from different languages will be less of a challenge if you can extrapolate ten years from now. A.I is altering business and lifestyle designs daily. So now if you can just imagine in your mind then you will see the trends that may seem distant. Once the technology is in the wild you can’t pull it back in. It will be a time of what I call S.O.A aka speed of adaptability. That adaptability will be a defining issue in the times ahead and will be the bedrock of this updated evolving economy.

To close out, American English will be the reserve language for the world. This will not just go away! However, in roads will be made by other cultures and languages. We are in NKW please remember that will not go away. America has been on top for our whole life, so we got to ask will it stay the same? This is the true battle field going forward.
