Mental Diversity is on decline
Differences is the key
As someone who seeks differences it is quite a bummer to see and hear less mental diversity! It appears that mental diversity is suffering in this time. The fact that the idea of ‘‘cancelling culture’’ or cancelling individuals is so offensive to me. I wish to pose the question why is ‘‘the same’’ so valuable? Why is ‘‘fitting in’’ so the way now? Why is society so afraid of differences? Why is society so indoctrinated against difference? Please freeze frame and pose those questions to yourself!
Throughout written history differences have apparently been attacked ! That is nothing new based on the written history we have been left with to refer with. I realize not much is new if you dig back in the historic record. It is fresh to us as individuals because of the generational thing we humans possess. If you however, view the human as a chain link as I do then all of that changes. With all of the differences that are around us, if we truly look at nature you see all of the beautiful differences. Isn’t a rose different than a tulip? Yet they have there unique place in the world around us. Please pause and reflect on that please.
In this era, the code word of diversity has been inverted to mean LESS DIVERSITY! I can truly recall diversity! Diversity was the definition in NYC in the 1980’s! The place was full of characters! Characters to the left of you and characters to the right of you! It was so wonderful. Now that was diversity! Now please hear me out I do not do nostalgia much but in this case I am truly nostalgic because I miss that diversity of characters. Now that was diversity!!!
So as I look around and see this ‘‘collage of sameness’’ masquerading as diversity it is quite a bummer because I am a product of true diversity. The individuals now do not know that type of diversity because they are now trying to be a trend that already exist. For the record diversity is a risk! Diversity means I do not want to be like you but be like myself. With individuals being taught ‘‘collectivist philosophy’’ instead of individuality our society idea of diversity has become quite rancid.
In closing, spending all of this time celebrating trends and not ‘‘original differences’’ has caused this rancidness of diversity. Not much is interesting on its own this is why people trying to be different are just doing anything to be noticed not realizing if you are a character of your own you will stand out. True diversity has a risk and that has been lost in my P.O.V aka point of view. Fear doesn’t enhance diversity. Fear does the opposite. Welcome to the world of the inversion of diversity. Now what will your mind allow you to do.
