My first music Monday
Hello everyone,
I will be doing random music Monday’s going forward. Music is my underlying profession, and it is never too far way. Let’s begin:
The beauty of a song (lyrics) is they tell a story and take you someplace else in the moment. If you close your eyes and just let the words take you to another realm yet you have not left where you are. I call it ‘‘lyrical yogism’’. The first song I have chosen is from the Lennon & Mccartney song book called ‘‘In My Life’’. Even though they spent only about 10 years together they were quite prolific as we all know as songwriters. The song In My Life is a song that continues to be discovered and touches people as it comes to the age of 57. It was recorded on October 18th,1965. This song was written at the age of 25. The songs lyrical depth does not have the texture of a 25-year-old but of someone who is much older. It is a heavy song but not dark. The song allows introspection and depth. This song has the ability to touch anyone of any race, color, or religion, it is a song that makes you pause. When I first heard this song decades ago, I remember stopping what I was doing to just soak it all in. As I learned more about the song it was a turning point for Lennon. When someone close to me gets married or has died it is a song I always travel back to. Here are the lyrics and the song below. Thank you for engaging with me.
There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends, I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all.
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you (ooh - ooh - ooh)
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new (ooh - ooh - ooh)
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them.
In my life I love you more.
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more.
