This column is based on music industry yet applies to the general economy which I have stated that this economy we are in is based on the music business. The playlist has taken over the recording song portion of the traditional music industry in breaking through an artist now. Now what does that mean? The song/artist has been disconnected from the album. The song has been disconnected from the artist. The fan/consumer is now considered the user in the tech/software economy.
We are in the age of personalization/customization is the new luxury. Not exclusive but personalized. The phone is a body part to Generation Z. Going live on social media to this crowd is very personal. The audience feels you are talking to them exclusively because of the phone factor. Here is my theory: You are holding the phone in your hand and the individual has the appearance of speaking to you directly. You are sharing yourself with them because they follow you and have taken an interest personally. Their phone is with them or very close to the individual. Folks are in the bathroom/urinal the phone is with people and some are even on the phone.
Going live I am considering this being invited to someone’s home. If the live is shared others, then are invited in your theoretical home. This is the best way to manipulate the platform to engage the user/consumer. It is in theory free. As long as you pay your phone/cable bill you can invite people in. The person does not have to leave where they are to experience you. No barrier to bring what you are offering. You can tell your story unfiltered. The audience is waiting for you! If you are consistent, you will develop their support.
It is ultimately about each side both have to take the time. Time is your currency. It is something we to use properly. Now what will your mind allow you to do.
