Economic History At A Pivot Point

Hello subscribers, This is a special series to touch upon compelling issues for the human going forward. We are in the midst of a fluid change of systems and frameworks. With those changes the human being will have to alter visions of reality. This series hopes to enlighten individuals towards this. Thank you always for your support. My vision tells me that our global society has graduated to a whole other epoch in human history! There is no way to go back. Times of change in most of human history bring massive fears, scares and questions. It is not a period of stability, dormancy or inactivity. Things move fluidly in these times…. which causes discombobulation of the everyday person who are the basis of our systems funnels. We are in this time and people will have to dial in and dive into the various agents so individuals can stay relevant with resolute calmness.

I came across a headline by Microsoft CEO Nadella that references a lost economic theory by a 19th century English economist named William Stanley Jevon. Nadella postulates that as A.I gets more efficient and accessible we will see its use sky rocket turning A.I into a commodity that we (society) can’t get enough of. So, I had to go find out this thing called ‘Jevon’s Paradox’, it posits that technological advancements that increase resource efficiency can paradoxically lead to increase resource efficiency can paradoxically lead to increased consumption, due to a combination of factors including lower prices and increased demand. When the cost of using a resource decreases due to increased efficiency, it becomes more attractive for consumers and industries to utilize it, leading to higher overall consumption.

With that said, I came across an article from the Every newsletter titled: A.I Turned Me Into A Content Agency Of One By Katie Purrott. I said to myself here we go. Apparently she had to develop some content for one of her freelance client’s in over the next month of:

• 8 blogs articles

• 3 E books

• 24 linked in posts

• 8 Linked In Carousels

• 24 X posts

• 16 Instagram Posts

• 8 Instagram carousels

• 16 Facebook group posts

• 24 emails.

She then say’s when she was at a market agency, Katie was fully booked when she was producing two articles per week. The list above would utilize three or four writers at a small content marketing agency for three months. She apparently with A.I produced it all by herself in two weeks! Now please pause and think about that.

She came to the conclusion that here about A.I in theory removing jobs but to now have experienced it in real time by her own action was a powerful moment of reflection! This is a example of Jevon’s paradox.

Now please extrapolate in a 5 year period what this will do corporate workloads, small business, solopreneurship. Everyone will be expected to work much harder and chase efficiencies because there will be an assumption that people become to expect things much faster. Also, people will then just expect it. Things will have gotten faster but fast doesn’t mean quality! It doesn’t mean your best work. It means you can increase your output without adding human labor costs. Individuals will connect speed and completion with great work. I will state that is a false dictum! We shall just be putting disposable output if you follow this model.

We are at a time of the redefinition of what a career/labor will be. It is time of deliberation and decisions of how individuals will navigate this new world. We have arrived in a new epoch. This series will assist in this new version of society. See you next week 5/20/25 for part 2. Thank you.
