What is the value of Citizenship!
I pose this question recently with all of the changes happening on this country’s border and other borders around the globe. What is the purpose of citizenship in this time period? What are the benefits of citizenship? What if I want to renounce my citizenship? What does citizenship mean in a world without borders?
Let’s check on the history of citizenship…. The first Naturalization act, passed by Congress on march 26th 1790 , provided that any free, white, adult alien, male or female, who resided within the limits and jurisdiction of the U.S for a period of two years was eligible for citizenship. The term citizen was not defined by the constitution until the fourteenth amendment was added in 1868, which defined United States citizenship to include all persons born or naturalized in the U.S and subject to jurisdiction. That 14th amendment changed the whole idea of America. the ramifications that are felt to this day. The Civil War (slavery) was the catalyst!
Here was an interesting fact, before 1954 only white people were allowed to become naturalized citizens. Everyone else was denied the right to become naturalized citizen. That is a lot of people over that period of time! This is a compelling fact when you look at what is taking place in 2023. You can start to see the formation of the United States is based on race and color! To not understand that then you do not understand this country called America aka United States of America.
Let’s breakdown migrant and immigrant. Lets do Migrant first:
Migrant refers to someone who moves to other places in search of work or better living conditions.
Immigrant refers to those who have moved to a foreign country permanently for work or better living conditions.
A citizen:
Can vote
Receive protection from deportation and losing residential rights.
Be able to bring family members more quickly to the United States/
Visa free travel to many countries
Here are critical responsibilities of being a USA citizen
Support and defend the constitution
Stay informed of the issues affecting your community.
Participate in the electoral process.
Respect and obey federal, state and local laws
***Respect the rights, beliefs and opinion of others.
Now I bring all of this up because of our current affairs. The migrants are quite costly to all level of government. It appears a ‘orange carpet’ is being rolled out for individuals. There is a lot of being done for those people which is not random! In NYC they are being given working papers and are being given shelter with amenities. We all deserve to be treated as a human being in the modern sense but what is the purpose of this? It is not for humanitarian purposes. The purposes are very sinister. No government is nice to it’s citizen so why for migrants?
Everyone of them is not a refugee. What is a refugee?
A person who has been forced to leave there country in order to escape war, persecution or natural disaster.
A refugee is a small amount of people traditionally. So why the difference now?
I am wondering how many citizens are supporting this policy?
Do these people coming in will they be put on track for citizenship? Will they pick up a constitution to read? Will they learn English? It appears to be right now we have an apathetic citizenry! Have people ever picked up a copy of the constitution so they know what country they are in? Are people staying informed on what is happening?
I wish to pose another question…. What is the value of the electoral process in this time of ‘creaky borders’? Why the selective border activity? Are people respecting the law? Do people even know the law? In this cancel culture era people are guilty and then if they are lucky proven innocent! There is no respect for the individuals rights!
I have thought of renouncing my citizenship because it does not seem to have the same value it once had! If folks can just waltz over the border then what is the point of being a citizen? If you are not wishing to run for political office or get government job then what is the point? The power of the USA passport is shrinking. Iceland and Ireland have a higher rated passport than us in terms of durability. I remember being in U.K and couldn’t work. I wasn’t looking for work but at the end of the day I had to keep a low profile on certain things. I wasn’t a resident or citizen. I couldn’t get these things that were given out here. That is why you must love America! I do not knock any of those people for doing what they do. It is the government officials allowing this to happen. The people known as migrants are just a ‘political football.’' I just know there are rules to the game. I found that out also in Germany when I was there.
In closing, The Biden Administration is obviously taking orders from a ‘supra national’ entity. These people have many wealthy international organizations along with USA entities making this happen. Some are flying to Panama’s Darien Gap and then making there way through that jungle. I tip my hat to those families. However, there are ample reports of human trafficking taking place. Especially children! I wonder what happens when they get here and have to survive on the streets? Obviously citizenship has been devalued! The idea of a one world government is in the nascent stage. No borders! What is taken place is engineered and manufactured. That is the final message. The question by whom?
