In the end all AI can ever be is at best a simulation. But so many people will prefer the simulation, just as they prefer junk food. Why cook a nutritious meal when you can buy slop; why think and feel and experience as a human when you can get it prepackaged by your AI assistant? In the future how many of us will know or care what is real and what is fake? And if the fake becomes omnipresent then that is the new real. What happens to those who refuse this new reality? I wonder what kind of authoritarianism waits around the corner.
